Carson Coffman completed 15-of-16 passes for 184 yards and two touchdowns and added three rushing scores as Kansas State came into Lawrence and embarrassed in-state rival Kansas on Thursday, 59-7.

Daniel Thomas chipped in 91 rushing yards and a touchdown and Tramaine Thompson caught five passes for the Wildcats, who rang up their biggest point total of the season.

Coffman, who had one of the worst games of his career against Nebraska last week, bounced back in spectacular form. The senior quarterback took over in the second quarter, rushing for a touchdown on the first play of the period and then running four more times after Kansas State recovered a fumble to find the end zone again two minutes later.

Thomas added his touchdown later in the second and Coffman used his arm to find Travis Tannahill with 2:05 left in the half to cap a 28-point quarter and send the Wildcats into the break with a 31-0 edge.

Kansas State kept the pressure on after the half, with Coffman finding Andre McDonald with a 29-yard strike on the opening possession of the third to push it to 38-0. James Sims returned a fumble 85 yards for a score later in the quarter and Coffman rushed for a 2-yard touchdown to make it 52-0 heading into the fourth.

The Jayhawks turned the ball over three times and allowed a total of 286 rushing yards.
