In one of the most bizarre finishes, No. 10 LSU scored the winning touchdown after time expired to defeat Tenessee 16-14 on Saturday.

Tennessee celebrated what they thought was a huge upset after stopping LSU at the 2-yard line, but the referee reviewed the play, and the Volunteers were penalized for having 13 men on the field.

LSU was given another play from the 1. With no time on the clock, Stevan Ridley scored.

LSU (5-0, 3-0 SEC) overcame four turnovers and poor clock management in the final seconds. After replacing quarterback Jarrett Lee, Jordan Jefferson was stopped on an option play. With no timeouts, the clock running and players looking to the sidelines, the Tigers snapped the ball, which sailed past Jefferson as time expired.

Tennessee, in its first year under coach Derek Dooley, fell to 2-3 (0-2).

On the first play of the game, Jefferson sprinted 83 yards for a touchdown to give LSU a 7-0 lead.

Tennessee tied the score later in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Tauren Poole.

Matt Simms scored on a 3-yard run early in the fourth quarter to put Tennessee up 14-10.
