Cam Newton passed for 246 yards and three touchdowns in less than three full quarters, and No. 11 Auburn pounded visiting Louisiana-Monroe 52-3 on Saturday.

Auburn (5-0) entered with the nation's seventh-best rushing offense, but the Tigers did much of their damage through the air, especially in the first half.

Newton, the Southeastern Conference's leading rusher at 121.3 yards per game through last week, had only one official rushing attempt -- an 11-yard sack. But he was plenty productive in the passing game, completing 14 of 19 passes, including a school-record 94-yard touchdown to Emory Blake in the first quarter.

The Tigers took the lead 21 seconds into the game on Onterio McCalebb's 50-yard touchdown run on Auburn's second offensive play. Newton added two of his three touchdown passes, and freshman Michael Dyer ran for a three-yard score for 31-3 halftime lead.

Mario Fannin led Auburn's running game with 90 yards on 10 carries, including a two-yard touchdown.

Auburn has won 59 consecutive games when scoring 30 or more points, a streak that dates back to 1996. The Tigers improved to 16-0 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt Conference, while the Warhawks (1-3) dropped to 0-19 against ranked opponents.

The Tigers play at Kentucky next Saturday.
