Recap: Kansas State 31, UCLA 22
Sep 4, 2010
Daniel Thomas rushed for 234 yards and two touchdowns, including one in the final minute that sealed Kansas State's 31-22 victory Saturday in Manhattan, Kan.
Thomas' second touchdown capped a flurry of scoring late in the fourth quarter. Kansas State's Carson Coffman tossed a five-yard touchdown pass to Brodrick Smith with 2:08 left to give the Wildcats a 24-16 lead, but the Bruins quickly struck back.
Sophomore quarterback Kevin Prince struggled for most of the day, finishing 9-for-26 passing for 121 yards and two interceptions, but he answered Coffman's lone touchdown pass with a two-play, 65-yard scoring drive, hitting Ricky Marvray for a 29-yard score to give UCLA a chance to tie it. But Prince misfired on the two-point conversion attempt, and Kansas State's Travis Tannahill covered an onside kick to seal the win.
After falling behind 7-0 on Thomas' first touchdown run, the Bruins took a 10-7 halftime lead on Prince's 11-yard touchdown run and Kai Forbath's 44-yard field goal.
Kansas State regained the lead on William Powell's 28-yard touchdown run with 12:49 left in the third quarter, and the Wildcats didn't trail again.
