Freshman Jahii Carson registered 12 points for Arizona State (6-1), which shot 48.4 percent and led 40-26 after closing the first half on an 18-9 run. Eric Jacobsen added six points and nine rebounds.
John Dickson paced the Hornets (5-2) with 12 points and seven rebounds, Dylan Garrity scored 11 points and Jackson Carbajal added nine. The outcome was never in doubt after Carson hit a 3-pointer to put Arizona State ahead by 20 with 10:36 remaining.
Sacramento State coach Brian Katz was ejected after his second technical foul with four minutes left in the first half. Mikh McKinney, Joe Eberhard and Konner Veteto scored 10 points apiece for the Hornets, who shot 34.5 percent in the first half and 40 percent overall.
The Sun Devils outrebounded the Hornets 45-32 and combined for 21 assists by seven different players. Gordon was 8-for-16 shooting, including five 3-pointers, and added three rebounds and five assists.
