Raptors 109, Nuggets 108: Rudy Gay's jumper with 4.8 seconds remaining lifted host Toronto to a thrilling win over Denver.

After Alan Anderson grabbed his own rebound on a miss of a mid-range jumper, Gay gathered the ball along the baseline and knocked down a short shot to put the Raptors ahead. The Nuggets had one final shot for the win, but Ty Lawson missed a running jumper as time expired.

DeMar DeRozan scored 22 points and Gay added 17 for Toronto, which won its third straight game and earned a split of the season series. Lawson's 29 points paced the Nuggets, who fell to 11-17 away from Pepsi Center.

Gay's 15 first-half points were the catalyst for Toronto's 54-52 lead at the break, but he picked up his fourth foul early in the third quarter and sat for the remainder of the period. DeRozan shined in his absence, knocking down a 14-footer with 3:45 remaining and adding another long jumper at the buzzer as the Raptors entered the fourth ahead 82-78.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by John Lucas III early in the final period stretched the Toronto lead to six, and another near the midway point of the quarter helped stem a Denver rally. The Nuggets rallied to tie the game on a Corey Brewer jumper with 3:01 remaining, then went ahead on a pair of Anthony Rudolph free throws in the final minute to set the stage for Gay's heroics.

GAME NOTEBOOK: DeRozan had the highlight of the game, collecting a pass at the top of the 3-point arc before driving to the hoop and throwing down a vicious dunk over Denver 7-footer Timofey Mozgov. ... Gay is averaging 22.3 points in six games since joining the Raptors in a three-team trade with Memphis and Detroit. ... The Nuggets fell despite owning a 70-34 advantage in points in the paint.
