Recap
Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points to lift the New York Knicks to their fourth consecutive victory, an 85-79 win over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.
Amar'e Stoudemire added 20 points and 10 rebounds and Josh Harrellson came off the bench to score 13 as the Knicks (6-4) snapped the Sixers' six-game winning streak and pulled within a game of Philadelphia (7-3) atop the Atlantic Division.
Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner had 16 points apiece to pace the Sixers, who were playing their third game in as many nights and were without starting center Spencer Hawes (back).
New York used a pair of runs – one to close the third quarter and another early in the fourth – to take control before holding off a late comeback.
After the Sixers whittled the lead to two points in the third, Anthony scored six straight points and Harrellson buried a 3-pointer in a 9-0 run to give New York a 67-56 lead entering the fourth quarter.
The Knicks went on an 11-1 spurt early in the fourth to pad the advantage to 78-61 before Thaddeus Young scored eight points in a 10-0 surge to cut the deficit to 78-71.
Philadelphia got within four points with under a minute remaining, but Anthony buried two free throws to end it.
