Recap
Mike Conley scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half and made two big plays down the stretch as the undermanned Memphis Grizzlies grinded out an 89-86 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night.
Sam Young added 19 points and a career-high eight rebounds and Conley added eight assists and three steals for the Grizzlies (29-26), who have won seven of nine and remain one game behind Portland for the eighth spot in the West.
Memphis played without leading scorer and rebounder Zach Randolph, who sat with a sprained right ankle, but still managed to sweep the season series and snap a four-game losing streak here.
With the game tied and two minutes left, Conley picked up a loose ball, raced down the floor and dropped the ball back to Tony Allen, who jammed the ball through. After Brandon Jennings missed a 3-pointer, Conley drained a 3-pointer from the right corner as the shot clock was winding down for an 82-77 lead with 1:12 left.
Corey Maggette scored 20 of his 22 points in the third quarter and John Salmons and Jennings added 16 for Milwaukee, which squandered a 15-point lead in losing for the sixth time in seven games.
