Texas Rangers vs San Francisco Giants Box Score on Aug 26, 2018

Steven Duggar broke a fourth-inning tie with a two-run triple Sunday afternoon, sending the San Francisco Giants to a 3-1 home victory over the Texas Rangers.

Left-hander Derek Holland (7-8) beat his old team for the first time, limiting the Rangers to one run in 6 1/3 innings, helping the Giants take the series 2-1 and finish interleague play for the year at 8-12.

All four runs were scored with two out.

The Giants scored first when Evan Longoria tripled off Rangers starter Yovani Gallardo (7-3) with two out in the bottom of the first and raced home on a passed ball by catcher Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

The Rangers got even in the third when Rougned Odor drew a two-out walk and came around on a double by Elvis Andrus.

Duggar's difference-making hit in the fourth followed a two-out single by Hunter Pence and walk by Nick Hundley. It put the Giants ahead for good at 3-1 and gave the rookie five hits in the series.

Holland pitched into the seventh inning. He left after singles by Joey Gallo and Kiner-Falefa and a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Tocci put the potential tying runs in scoring position with one out.

Left-hander Tony Watson struck out Robinson Chirinos and retired Odor on a bunt back to the mound to end the threat.

Holland, who went 62-50 in eight seasons for the Rangers, allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked three and struck out four.

The Rangers got the potential tying run to the plate in the eighth off right-hander Reyes Moronta after a two-out double by Nomar Mazara. But Jurickson Profar struck out to allow the Giants to retain their two-run cushion.

Mark Melancon came on in the ninth and pitched around a one-out single by pinch hitter Shin-Soo Choo for his second save in two days and third of the season.

Gallardo was pulled after giving up three runs and four hits in five innings. He walked three and struck out three.

The Rangers out-hit the Giants 5-4, with four of the nine hits going for extra bases.

Duggar and Longoria tripled for the Giants, who have gone 2-1 to begin a nine-game homestand.

Andrus and Mazara doubled for the Rangers, who went 2-4 on a trip to the San Francisco Bay Area that began with one win in three tries against the Oakland Athletics.
