Judge hits first career grand slam as Yankees beat A's

NEW YORK -- Aaron Judge hit his first career grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the third inning and the New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics 9-5 on Sunday afternoon.
Judge hit his 16th home run and first since last Sunday in Tampa Bay. It also was his first homer since an 18-seat section called the "Judge's Chambers" was added to the right field seats and the ball landed a few sections over.
Gary Sanchez and Brett Gardner added RBI doubles while Aaron Hicks and Chris Carter lifted sacrifice flies for the Yankees, who won for the fifth time in seven games.
Khris Davis slugged a two-run homer and Ryon Healy had a two-run single for Oakland. Jed Lowrie scored the other run on a throwing error by Michael Pineda.
Pineda (6-2) allowed three runs (two earned) and three hits in six innings. He won for the sixth time in seven decisions and matched his win total from last season.
Oakland's Andrew Triggs (5-4) allowed six runs (one earned) and six hits in six innings.
The A's took a 2-0 lead when Healy singled to left just over the glove of third baseman Ronald Torreyes. Healy was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double.
The Yankees scored their first run on Hicks' sacrifice fly in the second and then capitalized on Oakland's major-league-leading 48th error to get the lead.
With two on and one out, Matt Holliday lifted a fly ball in front of the warning track in right field but it was dropped by Matt Joyce. After Oakland's 10th outfield error of the season, Judge lined a 2-1 fastball into the center field seats.
The Yankees added another run after catcher Josh Phegley threw the ball into center fielder trying to get Aaron Hicks at second. After reaching third, Hicks trotted in on Carter's fly ball.
Oakland capitalized on two miscues by Pineda. He balked Jed Lowrie to second base and committed a throwing error on a ground ball by Davis.
Pineda initially looked to get the out at third but made an awkward throw and the ball went past Carter, allowing Lowrie to score.
Sanchez made it 7-3 when left fielder Davis made a diving play but the ball fell out of his glove after he dove to the ground.
Davis made it 7-5 with one out in the eighth when he hit his 15th home run of the season off Chad Green. New York scored its final runs when Gardner blooped a two-run double near the left field line.
NOTES: Oakland manager Bob Melvin said RHP Kendall Graveman (right shoulder soreness) will be placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday, though this absence is expected to last longer than his first DL stint last month. ... Athletics RHP Daniel Mengden, who underwent foot surgery before the season, will start Monday in Cleveland. ... Yankees LHP Aroldis Chapman (right rotator cuff inflammation) continued his throwing program and will have Monday off before resuming throwing Tuesday.
