Rays 7, Yankees 2: Jose Lobaton had four RBIs and led Tampa Bay's power surge with a three-run homer as the host Rays rolled to their fourth win in five games.
Ben Zobrist, Evan Longoria and Matt Joyce also went deep while Chris Archer worked seven strong innings for Tampa Bay, which moved into a virtual tie for first place with Boston in the American League East.
Lobaton, who added a run-scoring single in the fourth, belted his sixth homer of the season in the second inning to erase a 1-0 deficit. Longoria and Joyce went back-to-back in the third, and Zobrist launched a solo shot in the fifth to give the Rays a 7-1 advantage.
Archer (7-5) yielded two runs and four hits in improving to 3-0 against New York this season. The right-hander walked two and struck out four.
Hiroki Kuroda (11-10) was rocked for the second straight outing, surrendering seven runs and nine hits - four homers - over six frames. Brett Gardner went 2-for-2 and scored both runs for the Yankees, who had won 10 of 12 games. New York remained six games behind Boston.
