Yankees 7, Rays 5:
Vernon Wells delivered a pinch-hit, three-run double to cap a four-run seventh inning as New York came back to stun visiting Tampa Bay.

Rookie Zoilo Almonte drove in three runs and Robinson Cano scored three times for the Yankees, who have won back-to-back games. CC Sabathia (8-5) was knocked around for five runs in seven innings but still picked up the win while David Robertson worked a perfect eighth and Mariano Rivera took care of the ninth for his 26th save.

The Rays brought in Joel Peralta (1-4) to begin the seventh and the right-hander loaded the bases on two walks and a double before being replaced by Jake McGee. David Adams drew a two-out walk to force in a run before Wells drove a 1-2 fastball into the gap in right-center for a ground-rule double and a 7-5 lead.

Rookie Wil Myers had put Tampa Bay on top with a grand slam in the sixth. New York elected to intentionally walk Evan Longoria, who had already homered and doubled, to load the bases, and Myers knocked his first major-league home run off the top of the wall and into the seats in right-center to give the Rays a 5-3 lead.

Longoria put Tampa Bay on top with a solo homer in the second but Almonte delivered a two-run single in the third and drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to give the Yankees a 3-1 edge. Almonte is now 4-for-6 with four RBIs in two career starts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Injured New York SS Derek Jeter (ankle) joined the team and took batting practice and fielded ground balls before the game. He is expected to stay with the club through the weekend before continuing his rehab. … Cano drew a career-high four walks and stole a base. … Tampa Bay rookie Alex Colome started and allowed three unearned runs on five hits while walking five in 4 1/3 innings.
