Recap

Braves 8, Nationals 1: Tim Hudson earned his 200th career victory and slugged his third career homer, and Freddie Freeman drove in three runs as host Atlanta beat Washington for the ninth consecutive time.

Hudson (3-1) became the 113th pitcher in major-league history to reach 200 victories, allowing one run on three hits in seven innings. Evan Gattis snapped a 6-for-38 skid with two hits and two RBIs, and Hudson took Washington reliever Zach Duke deep to right leading off the fifth.

Andrelton Simmons finished 3-for-5, scored three times and homered off Washington starter Gio Gonzalez (2-2) leading off the first. Gonzalez lasted just four innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts.

Gattis doubled off the wall in left later in the first to drive home a run, and added a run-scoring single to center in the fourth. Freeman finished with three hits, singling home a run in the second and driving home two more in the fifth.

Washington did not get a hit until Tyler Moore, in the lineup with Jayson Werth nursing a sore left ankle and right hamstring, doubled to lead off the fifth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hudson joins Andy Pettitte (248) and Roy Halladay (201) as the only active pitchers with 200 or more victories. Hudson improved to 137-3 lifetime when given a lead of three or more runs.  … Washington fell to 2-13 when allowing the opposing team to score first. … Two of Simmons' five career homers have come off Gonzalez.
