Diamondbacks 3, Rockies 2: Paul Goldschmidt hit a two-run homer as Arizona began a seven-game homestand with its fourth victory in five games.

Trevor Cahill (1-3) allowed an unearned run, four hits, walked four and struck out six in five innings for the Diamondbacks, who dropped two of three to the Rockies last weekend. Wil Nieves had three hits and an RBI single while J.J. Putz worked around a two-out walk in the ninth for his fourth save in seven chances.

Jorge De La Rosa (2-2) allowed three runs (two earned) and seven hits in six innings in falling to 7-4 lifetime against Arizona. Troy Tulowitzki hit a run-scoring double in the seventh inning to make it 3-2 for Colorado, which has lost four of its last five.

Arizona's first three runners reached in the second inning, with Nieves' run-scoring hit giving the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead. Colorado answered in the fourth when Michael Cuddyer doubled with one out, advanced to third on a wild pitch with two outs and scored on third baseman Martin Prado's error.

Goldschmidt crushed De La Rosa's 1-1 offering high off the screen attached to the left-field foul pole after Prado led off the fourth inning with an infield hit. Colorado loaded the bases with one out in the fifth before Cahill struck out Cuddyer and got Ryan Wheeler to ground out.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Rockies placed 1B Todd Helton on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left forearm. Wheeler was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take his roster spot and doubled in his first at-bat as a Rockie, but his error in the second inning led to Arizona's first run. ... De La Rosa had a string of 18 scoreless innings snapped. ... Colorado LF Carlos Gonzalez is hitless in his last 15 at-bats after striking out for the third time Thursday to end the game.
