Rockies 6, Dodgers 2: Juan Nicasio pitched six solid innings and received a big boost from the bullpen, and Troy Tulowitzki highlighted a three-run fourth inning with a two-run double as host Colorado cooled off Los Angeles.
Carlos Gonzalez had two RBIs and scored two runs and Ramon Hernandez drove in a pair as the Rockies improved to 2-2 on their nine-game homestand.
Matt Kemp hit his major league-best 12th home run in the first for the Dodgers, who began a six-game road trip following a three-game sweep of National League East-leading Washington.
Nicasio (2-0) allowed two runs and nine hits in six innings and became the first Rockies pitcher to go more than five innings since he went 6 2/3 at Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
Nicasio allowed a pair of singles to open the seventh. Esmil Rogers relieved and walked Mark Ellis to load the bases before striking out Kemp. Rex Brothers entered and struck out Andre Ethier, and Edgmer Escalona came on and got Juan Rivera to pop out.
Los Angeles' Aaron Harang (1-2) allowed five runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Gonzalez's run-scoring single tied it 1-1 in the fourth before Tulowitzki put Colorado ahead for good. Hernandez capped the inning with a sacrifice fly.
After Juan Uribe's RBI single in the sixth brought Los Angeles to within 4-2, Hernandez drove in Gonzalez with a double in the bottom half and Gonzalez added an RBI single in the seventh.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Kemp went 1-for-3 with a walk and finished April with a .major league-best 417 batting average, the highest by a Dodger since Ron Cey hit .425 in 1977. ... Nicasio improved to 6-1 in 10 career starts at Coors Field. ... The Rockies were 6-3 against the Dodgers at home in 2011.
