Diamondbacks 6, Padres 0: Trevor Cahill tossed his second career shutout and visiting Arizona smashed three home runs while beating San Diego for the second consecutive day.

Miguel Montero and Gerardo Parra hit two-run homers and Paul Goldschmidt blasted a solo shot as the Diamondbacks concluded a 3-3 road trip.

Cahill (3-5) allowed six hits and three walks and struck out five while winning for the first time since May 1. His only other career shutout came with the Oakland Athletics in 2010.

San Diego hit into four double days while suffering its seventh loss in eight games.

Goldschmidt gave Arizona a 1-0 lead with an opposite-field homer off Eric Stults (1-2) in the second.

A sacrifice fly by Jason Kubel in the sixth gave the Diamondbacks a two-run lead and Montero homered over the wall in center field later in the inning to make it 4-0. Parra capped the scoring with a two-run homer to left in the seventh.

Stults allowed six runs and seven hits in 6 1/3 innings.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Montero had gone 128 at-bats since his last homer and Parra ended a 109 at-bat homerless drought. … Padres OF Will Venable left after the second inning with an oblique injury. … Goldschmidt went 2-for-3, extending his career-best hitting streak to 12 games. … San Diego is just 2-11 in its last 13 contests.
