Recap

Diamondbacks 9, Rockies 7: Justin Upton hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth and Willie Bloomquist drove in a pair of runs as visiting Arizona earned a split of a two-game series.

Ryan Roberts added two RBIs while Gerardo Parra and Jason Kubel each scored twice for the Diamondbacks.

After blowing a three-run lead in the eighth, Arizona jumped back in front in the ninth. Parra started it off with a double and stole third. After Bloomquist struck out, Upton took a 1-2 cutter from Rafael Betancourt (1-1) and belted it out to right for a two-run blast, his fourth.

The Rockies loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the ninth but J.J. Putz struck out pinch hitter Alex White and got Ramon Hernandez to ground into a double play to record an adventurous seventh save.

Brad Ziegler (2-1) got credit for the win in a game that was delayed in the fifth inning when a swarm of bees came down the first-base line.

Carrying a 4-3 lead into the eighth, Colorado went to left-hander Rex Brothers, who walked two, unleashed a wild pitch and allowed two hits. The Diamondbacks took advantage with four RBI singles to grab a 7-4 edge.

The Arizona bullpen could not hold the lead, as David Hernandez loaded the bases on two singles and a walk before walking in a run with two outs. It looked like he would get out of the inning on a groundball to third but Roberts committed an error that allowed a run to score.

With the bases still loaded, Hernandez had a few close pitches go against him in issuing a walk to Marco Scutaro that tied it at 7-7.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Troy Tulowitzki and Jordan Pacheco each homered for the Rockies, who squandered a 4-1 lead. … The Diamondbacks visit Kansas City on Friday for the start of interleague play while the Rockies host the Seattle Mariners. … Upton’s blast snapped a 13-game homerless streak.
