Pirates 6, Brewers 4:
Andrew McCutchen hit a two-run homer and visiting Pittsburgh scored the tiebreaking run on Martin Maldonado’s passed ball as it won for the third time in four games.

The Pirates scored twice in the seventh inning as they capitalized on two Brewers’ errors and the passed ball by Maldonado to remain in a first-place tie with the Cincinnati Reds in the National League Central.

Maldonado failed to catch ball four to McCutchen with one out, allowing Josh Harrison to score the go-ahead run.

Casey McGehee had three hits and homered in the eighth to provide insurance while All-Star Joel Hanrahan worked the ninth for his 24th save in 27 opportunities.

Marco Estrada struck out 11 in 5 2/3 innings for the Brewers, but missed out on his first victory of the season due to the shoddy defense.

Pittsburgh had three singles in the sixth, with McGehee delivering the hit that cut Milwaukee’s lead to 4-3. Errors by left fielder Ryan Braun and reliever Kameron Loe (4-3) an inning later cost the Brewers as Loe’s throwing error allowed the Pirates to knot the score prior to Maldonado's gaffe.

Milwaukee took a 2-0 lead in the second as Hart drilled a run-scoring triple down the right-field line off Kevin Correia (6-6) and scored on a grounder by Rickie Weeks.

The Pirates tied the contest in the third on McCutchen’s 20th homer of the season, a booming shot over the right-center field fence on a 0-2 pitch. Pittsburgh third baseman Pedro Alvarez booted a grounder by Aramis Ramirez in the bottom half to allow Milwaukee to take a 3-2 lead, and Hart hit a sacrifice fly to right-center field later in the inning.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McCutchen has homered in three consecutive games for the first time in his career. … Hart delivered his 44th extra-base hit, second in the National League behind Cincinnati’s Joey Votto. … McGehee’s homer leading off the eighth was the fourth in a row allowed by Milwaukee’s Tyler Thornburg. The final three Toronto batters he faced on June 19 in his first big-league outing also went deep. … Estrada’s struck out a career-high 12 against the Reds on June 26.
