Diamondbacks 3, Astros 1:
Wade Miley pitched six strong innings and chipped in an RBI as visiting Arizona jumped back over .500.

Chris Young and Paul Goldschmidt each contributed an RBI double and Aaron Hill recorded a pair of hits for the Diamondbacks, who won back-to-back games for the first time in two weeks.

Miley (13-8) bounced back from one of his worst performances by scattering eight hits and one run. The rookie left-hander struck out five and did not walk a batter, bringing his ERA back down below 3.00 to 2.96.

Houston rookie Dallas Keuchel matched zeros with Miley until the fifth, when Arizona put runners on the corners with a pair of one-out singles. Miley came up next and sent a safety squeeze out to Keuchel, scoring Gerardo Parra. Young’s RBI double capped the two-run frame.

The Astros got a run back in the bottom of the frame on Tyler Greene’s sacrifice fly but could not scratch across anything else against the Diamondbacks’ staff.

Keuchel (1-5) lasted 6 2/3 innings and was charged with two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out three. The rookie left-hander has not won since June 23 - a span of eight starts.

Goldschmidt’s double scored Hill in the eighth to make it 3-1.

The Astros put the first two runners on in the eighth but came up with nothing as David Hernandez retired the next three batters to keep the two-run edge. J.J. Putz worked a scoreless ninth for his 24th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Astros wore throwback uniforms from the late 90’s. … Diamondbacks LF Jason Kubel was scratched from the lineup with a stiff neck. … Arizona 3B Chris Johnson, who was acquired from Houston last month, went 0-for-3 in his first game against his former team. … The Astros added knuckleballer Joe Niekro to the team’s Walk of Fame prior to the game. Nierko, who won 144 games for the franchise, died of a brain aneurism in 2007. … Houston RHP Bud Norris will make his scheduled start Tuesday. Norris’ status was in doubt after he took a comebacker off the foot Wednesday in Chicago.
