Recap
Cardinals 7, Cubs 0: Rookie Lance Lynn tossed six scoreless innings for his 12th win, getting plenty of run support as host St. Louis capped a lopsided three-game sweep.
Lynn (12-4) scattered four hits and three walks, striking out five. He allowed the leadoff man to reach base four different times, but Chicago never advanced a runner past second base.
Fernando Salas pitched two innings of one-hit relief before turning it over to Marc Rzepczynski, who finished the shutout with a 1-2-3 ninth.
The Cardinals, who outscored the Cubs by a 23-1 margin over the weekend, took a four-run lead in the first inning Sunday when Jon Jay and Tony Cruz hit consecutive two-out, two-run doubles against Travis Wood (4-5). Matt Holliday and Carlos Beltran added solo homers on back-to-back pitches in the fifth.
Wood gave up seven runs - six earned - on nine hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked two.
Tyler Greene had a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning for the Cardinals. Jay went 4-for-4, completing the first four-hit game of his career.
GAME NOTEBOOK: St. Louis outscored Chicago, 19-0, over the final 12 innings of the series. ... LHP Jeff Beliveau, called up by the Cubs early in the day, made his major league debut in relief. He pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings despite allowing three hits and a walk. ... RHP Rafael Dolis was optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for Beliveau. ... Chicago RHP Matt Garza, pulled early on Saturday due to cramping in his elbow, said on Sunday that he does not expect to miss his next start.
