Recap

Mariners 5, Tigers 4: Chone Figgins had three hits -- including an RBI double to snap a seventh-inning tie -- as visiting Seattle completed a three-game sweep of Detroit.

Justin Smoak ended an 0-for-16 streak with a three-run homer in the first inning. Miguel Olivo also went deep for the Mariners, who last swept a three-game series at Comerica Park on April 26-28, 2011.

Miguel Cabrera belted a two-run homer and Ryan Raburn and Brennan Boesch had RBI singles for the Tigers, who overcame an early four-run deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning.

After two quick outs in the seventh, Brendan Ryan walked and came around to score when Figgins belted an offering from starter Rick Porcello (1-2) into right field.

Charlie Furbush (1-1) relieved starter Hector Noesi and struck out two in a scoreless inning. Three pitchers bridged the gap to Brandon League, who induced a game-ending double play for his seventh save.

With the Mariners clinging to a 4-1 lead, Boesch trimmed the deficit to two with an RBI single in the sixth inning. Cabrera then stepped to the plate and blasted a shot into the seats in left for his sixth homer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Olivo has seven homers in his last 12 contests at Comerica Park. ... Smoak deposited a hanging offspeed pitch from Porcello into the seats in right-center field for his third homer. ... With 1,598 wins, Tigers manager Jim Leyland remained one victory shy of tying Tommy Lasorda for 17th on the career list. ... Porcello dropped to 3-2 in his career versus the Mariners.
