Mets 3, Pirates 2: Lucas Duda knocked in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the eighth and R.A. Dickey pitched seven strong innings as visiting New York defeated Pittsburgh.

Mike Baxter doubled with one out in the eighth off reliever Juan Cruz (1-1) and scored on Duda’s single to right field off first baseman Garrett Jones’ glove. The Mets also pushed across an insurance run on an error by third baseman Pedro Alvarez for a 3-1 lead.

Dickey (6-1) struck out a career-high 11 batters, giving up just five hits and a run in seven innings of work. Dickey has won four straight decisions.

Pirates starter James McDonald was just as good, allowing four hits and one run over seven innings with eight strikeouts.

Frank Francisco pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his 11th save.

Mike Nickeas broke out of a 0-for-17 slump with an RBI single in the second to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.

Andrew McCutchen recorded two RBIs for the Pirates, including a bloop single that pulled Pittsburgh within 3-2 in the eighth. Josh Harrison added a double and a triple.

GAME NOTEBOOK: McDonald has not allowed more than three runs in his nine starts this season and has given up two or less in six of them. … Mets 3B David Wright, who came in batting .415, was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. … Harrison has hit safely in eight straight games, going 11-for-30. … Mets SS Ronny Cedeno has two hits in each of his last three games.
