Recap
Diamondbacks 9, Marlins 5: Cody Ransom and Justin Upton drilled two-run homers and Patrick Corbin won his major-league debut as visiting Arizona took three of four from reeling Miami.
Corbin, acquired in the 2010 Dan Haren trade with the Angels, allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Miami, which has lost eight of nine, came up short in its rally from a 7-0 deficit. Austin Kearns deposited a breaking ball over the left-field fence to make it 7-5 in the seventh, but the Diamondbacks tacked on two in the eighth off struggling Heath Bell.
Miami starter Mark Buehrle (1-4) gave up Ransom’s long blast to left-center in the second. In Arizona’s five-run fourth, Buehrle was hurt by Upton’s bomb and a misplay in which the left fielder Kearns and shortstop Jose Reyes let a bloop fall in.
Willie Bloomquist, who entered with a .462 average against Buehrle, drilled a two-run double to right-center in the inning. Three of the seven runs Buehrle allowed were unearned.
Donnie Murphy’s fifth-inning pinch-hit homer started Miami's rally, and Gaby Sanchez delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make it 7-3.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona outfielder Jason Kubel was scratched from the starting lineup due to an illness. … Miami starts a nine-game road trip Tuesday in San Francisco; Arizona continues its 10-game trip Tuesday in Washington. ... The Diamondbacks are 6-4 on the road.
