Braves 6, Rockies 1:
Kris Medlen extended his scoreless streak to 34 2/3 innings before allowing an unearned run in the seventh and host Atlanta beat Colorado for the 10th time in their last 12 meetings.

Medlen (7-1) gave up five hits with no walks and a career-high 12 strikeouts while throwing his second complete game in his last four starts.

National League wild card-leading Atlanta has won Medlen’s last 18 starts, a franchise record. Medlen is 6-0 with a 0.56 ERA since rejoining the Braves rotation July 31. Atlanta remained 6 1/2 games behind Washington in the NL East.

David Ross capped a four-run third inning with a two-run double off Tyler Chatwood (4-4), who allowed six runs (five earned) over three frames.

Atlanta won for the sixth time in its last 16 games despite being outhit 5-4. The Braves grabbed an early lead in the first when Michael Bourn led off with a walk and eventually scored on a wild pitch.

With two outs, Freddie Freeman walked before Martin Prado reached first on a liner off Chatwood’s leg. First baseman Jordan Pacheco committed two errors on the play, allowing Freeman to score.

The Rockies scored their lone run in the seventh, when Pacheco singled deep into the hole at shortstop and Paul Janish’s throw to get Carlos Gonzalez at second sailed into right field, allowing Gonzalez to score easily.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pacheco’s single in the seventh inning extended his hitting streak to 12 games. … Medlen’s shutout streak is the longest by a Braves starting pitcher since Greg Maddux’s 39 1/3 scoreless innings in 2000. … Braves CF Michael Bourn walked twice and scored two runs. … The Rockies lost for only the fifth time in their last 15 games. …The Braves recalled RHP Randall Delgado from Triple-A Gwinnett.
