Rays 4, Angels 3: Brandon Allen’s pinch-hit two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth capped a rally as Tampa Bay finished off a three-game sweep.

Allen, who walked in a run as a pinch-hitter in his Rays' debut on Wednesday, came up big off the bench again on Thursday. After Angels closer Jordan Walden (0-1) came in with one out in the ninth and gave up a single to B.J. Upton, Allen ripped a 2-2 pitch deep into the right-field bleachers to finish off Tampa Bay’s comeback from a 3-1 deficit.

The Angels broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Mark Trumbo drove in Torii Hunter with a double, advanced to third on an error and came home on an infield single by Vernon Wells. The Rays pulled within one in the bottom of the inning on Matt Joyce’s RBI triple.

Walden’s blown save took a win away from starter Jerome Williams, who worked seven strong innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and three walks, striking out six. Scott Downs got around a one-out walk in the eighth and retired the leadoff man in the ninth before passing the ball to Walden.

Tampa Bay got on the board in the first inning on an RBI double by Ben Zobrist, but the Angels drew even in the fifth when Trumbo hit a solo home run to left off Matt Moore.

Moore gave up three runs, two of them earned, on five hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out six and walked two ... Zobrist committed an error at second base for the second consecutive game after getting through the first 17 games without a gaffe ... Los Angeles 1B Albert Pujols singled in the sixth inning, his first hit in 22 at-bats, but was promptly thrown out trying to stretch it into a double.
