Recap

Jesus Guzman drove in three runs, including the game-winner during a six-run eighth inning, as the San Diego Padres rallied for an 8-3 home win over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday afternoon.

Chase Headley tied the game with an RBI triple against Rex Brothers (1-1) in the bottom of the before coming in to score when Guzman greeted reliever Matt Belisle with a base hit to left field. The Padres tacked on four more runs for insurance, with a two-run double by pinch-hitter Rob Johnson capping the onslaught.

Guzman had knocked in San Diego's first two runs of the day on a fourth-inning groundout and a double in the sixth. Chad Qualls (5-5) got the win after pitching a scoreless eighth in relief of Wade LeBlanc.

Colorado wasted a strong outing from starter Juan Nicasio, who struck out 10 and gave up just one earned run in seven innings. Nicasio, who allowed five hits and a pair of walks, struck out the side in the first and third innings.

LeBlanc yielded three runs on nine hits over six innings for the Padres, striking out six while walking two. San Diego right fielder Chris Denorfia left the game in the sixth inning with an injured right hamstring.
