Ryan Hanigan homered and added a two-run single in a three-run ninth inning, leading the visiting Cincinnati Reds to an 11-8 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday.
 
Brandon Phillips homered and drove in four runs for the Reds, who won for just the third time in 10 meetings with the Pirates. Joey Votto also homered for Cincinnati.
 
The Reds scored three runs off closer Joel Hanrahan (0-2) in the ninth after Pittsburgh tied the game at 8-8 in the eighth.  Drew Stubbs drove in the go-ahead run with a groundout and Hanigan followed with a two-run single to center.
 
Francisco Cordero threw a perfect ninth for his 25th save in 30 chances. Travis Wood (6-5) got the final two outs of the eighth for the win.

Pittsburgh was one-half game out of first place the last time it faced Cincinnati in mid-July, but has lost 20 of the last 27 games to fall out of the National League Central race.
