Recap

Ryan Zimmerman's walk-off grand slam capped a six-run uprising in the ninth inning as the Washington Nationals rallied for a stunning 8-4 home victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday.

With Washington trailing by two runs heading into the ninth inning, the Nationals quickly loaded the bases against Ryan Madson (3-2). Jonny Gomes and Ian Desmond tied the contest with RBI singles before Zimmerman ended the game with his eighth career walk-off homer.

Wilson Ramos belted a solo homer and scored on Desmond's RBI double in the third inning for Washington, which overcame a 2-hour, 22-minute rain delay to win for the third time in four games.

Todd Coffey (4-1) pitched one scoreless inning of relief to pick up the victory.

Madson yielded six runs on five hits in two-thirds of an inning to take the loss. He suffered his second blown save in 25 chances.

John Mayberry Jr. ripped an RBI triple and Chase Utley belted a run-scoring double to highlight a four-run third inning for Philadelphia, which lost for just the fourth time in 19 games.
