Recap
Jason Bay and Lucas Duda drove in three runs apiece as the visiting New York Mets completed a four-game sweep of the Cincinnati Reds with a 10-9 victory Thursday.
David Wright and Angel Pagan combined for six hits and scored seven runs for the Mets, who finished with 14 hits.
A day after trading away All-Star Carlos Beltran, New York did not show any weakness on offense. Duda, who will take over as the everyday right fielder with Beltran in San Francisco, homered in Wednesday night’s win and followed it up with a three-run double in the fourth inning on Thursday to give the Mets the lead.
New York would rally for four in the fourth and four more in the fifth against Cincinnati starter Homer Bailey (5-5). Chris Capuano (9-10) wasn’t much better for the Mets but did manage to make it through 5 1/3 frames to earn the win.
The Reds battled back with four runs in the sixth and added another in the seventh but could not make up the difference. Bobby Parnell pitched a perfect eighth and Jason Isringhausen worked the ninth for his fourth save.
Joey Votto and Miguel Cairo homered for Cincinnati.
