Recap
Hours after learning catcher Buster Posey could be out for the season, the San Francisco Giants’ depleted lineup managed just five hits in a 1-0 loss to the visiting Florida Marlins on Thursday.
Anibal Sanchez (4-1) threw his fifth career complete game, while striking out eight with two walks for the Marlins, who recorded their first three-game sweep of the Giants in San Francisco since 1995.
Sanchez has allowed just three runs over his last four starts.
The Giants placed Darren Ford, Mike Fontenot and Posey on the disabled list prior to Thursday’s game and called up three players from Triple-A Fresno, including top prospect Brandon Belt.
Posey suffered a fractured left ankle in a collision with Scott Cousins in the 12th inning of Wednesday’s contest and is out indefinitely.
The Marlins scored their lone run in the sixth when Chris Coghlan doubled and scored on Logan Morrison’s single off Ryan Vogelsong (3-1), who allowed eight hits and one walk over eight innings.
