Recap
Melky Cabrera belted a grand slam, Billy Butler homered twice and Jeff Francis recorded his first victory in seven weeks as the Kansas City Royals cruised to a 12-0 road triumph over the Cleveland Indians on Friday.
The Royals led 3-0 when they loaded the bases in the fourth, and Cabrera deposited a Carlos Carrasco offering into the right-field seats for his 13th homer.
After allowing the grand slam, Carrasco (8-9) showed his frustration by throwing his next pitch at the head of Butler. Both dugouts emptied as home plate umpire Scott Barry ejected Carrasco, who suffered his fifth straight loss after permitting seven runs on as many hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Alex Gordon homered and drove in three runs, and Brayan Pena added a two-run double as Kansas City won for the seventh time in 10 games.
The offensive eruption was more than enough for Francis (4-11), who snapped a five-game skid with his first win since June 10. He allowed four hits and struck out six in eight innings.
Cleveland suffered its seventh loss in eight games.
