Recap

Edwin Encarnacion's RBI single in the 10th inning lifted the host Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-4 triumph over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday afternoon.

Encarnacion's heroics were set up by Angels reliever Fernando Rodney (2-5), who walked Yunel Escobar and Jose Bautista to put two men on with one out. Hisanori Takahashi came on in relief and got Adam Lind to pop out to first base.

Encarnacion followed with a sharp single to left-center that brought Escobar home with the winning run, giving Toronto the series victory against the Angels. Sunday's 2-for-5 effort extended Encarnacion's hitting streak to 12 games.

Toronto forced extra innings off Angels closer Jordan Walden, as Colby Rasmus and Brett Lawrie hit back-to-back one-out doubles in the ninth to erase a 4-3 deficit.

Jon Rauch (5-3) earned the win with a scoreless 10th inning.

Angels starter Dan Haren limited the Blue Jays to three runs on five hits over seven strong innings. Toronto counterpart Brett Cecil allowed four runs on five hits over seven frames.

Blue Jays outfielders Eric Thames and Bautista hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth, the seventh time this season Toronto has achieved the feat. Bautista's blast was his league-best 34th of the year.
