Recap

Brandon Beachy came off the disabled list and struck out a career-best 11 batters in Atlanta's 5-1 win over Toronto  Wednesday at Turner Field.

Beachy (2-1) showed no rust in his first start since May 13, when he went on the DL with a strained left oblique. He gave up four hits, two walks and one run in six innings, allowing only a solo home run by Jose Bautista, his league-leading 22nd of the season and first since July 12.

Atlanta's Dan Uggla and Brian McCann each hit a two-run homer, while Brooks Conrad hit a solo homer. Uggla hit his 10th homer in the second inning and McCann followed with his 13th homer in the third inning. Conrad hit his third as a pinch hitter in the seventh, as the Braves swept the three-game series, extended their winning streak to four games and finished their homestand with a 5-4 record.

Toronto's Jo-Jo Reyes (3-6) absorbed the loss, allowing four runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
