Recap

Jeremy Hellickson gave up just three hits over 7 1/3 innings as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays held on for a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Saturday afternoon.

Hellickson (7-3), the reigning American League pitcher and rookie of the month, allowed just one run while striking out four and walking one as the Rays snapped a three-game losing streak. Kyle Farnsworth pitched the ninth for his 11th save.

Seattle’s Miguel Olivo hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer off reliever Joel Peralta in the bottom of the eighth. It was Olivo’s second home run in two games.

Ben Zobrist led the Rays' offense with two hits and two RBIs. Saturday marked his third multi-hit performance in the last four games.

Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left the game in the fourth inning with tightness in his left side. He is considered day-to-day.

Johnny Damon had a two-out RBI double in the second inning as Tampa Bay took a 1-0 lead. He has reached base in 30 straight games, one away from his career high. Zobrist followed with a two-run single.

Rays rightfielder Matt Joyce threw out Justin Smoak trying to score on a fly out to end the bottom of the fourth.
