Recap
Jose Guillen hit a grand-slam homer as part of a six-RBI performance to pace the San Francisco Giants to a 9-2 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
Guillen’s first-inning slam and two-run single in the fifth helped Barry Zito end a nine-game personal losing streak and boosted the Giants back into first place in the National League West.
Zito (9-13) allowed two runs and three hits in six innings, both runs coming on Ryan Braun’s sixth-inning homer. Zito struck out three and walked one while winning for the first time since July 16.
Pat Burrell all but iced the game for San Francisco with a three-run homer in the seventh as the Giants salvaged the final game of the three-game series.
Brewers starter Chris Narveson (11-8) allowed six runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings.
Freddy Sanchez, Buster Posey and Guillen all had two hits apiece for San Francisco.
