Recap
Matt Kemp hit a grand slam during a five-run third inning to spark the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 7-6 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.
James Loney added two RBIs and Chin-lung Hu drove in a run and scored a run for the Dodgers, who swept the three-game set and have won five of seven.
The Rockies took a 1-0 lead on Todd Helton’s sacrifice fly in the second but their defense let them down in the third.
Jhoulys Chacin (9-11) allowed a double and walked a batter around a pop out and a strikeout but looked like he would escape the threat when he induced a grounder to third. Ian Stewart made an error on the play, loading the bases.
Chacin then walked Loney to force in the tying run and bring up Kemp, who launched a 1-0 pitch over the wall in right for his 25th homer of the season.
Colorado chipped away with single runs in the third and fourth and two more in the fifth, but Los Angeles added runs in the fourth and fifth as well to maintain its lead.
Ramon Troncoso (2-3) picked up the win in relief and Ronald Belisario allowed a run in the ninth but recovered for his second save.
