Recap
Nate Schierholtz singled in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning and Juan Uribe homered as the San Francisco Giants defeated the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks 4-2 on Tuesday night.
Pablo Sandoval slammed a two-out double off the right-center field wall before Schierholtz delivered a pinch-hit single that helped the Giants take a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League West race.
Pat Burrell drove in an insurance run with a seventh-inning single. Mike Fontenot had a run-scoring single in the third and Uribe homered in the fourth as San Francisco recovered from an early 2-0 deficit.
Giants starter Jonathan Sanchez (12-9) allowed two runs and three hits in six innings. Brian Wilson entered with two on and one out in the eighth and retired five straight Diamondbacks for his 46th save.
Arizona’s runs came on Rodrigo Lopez’s second-inning sacrifice fly and Kelly Johnson’s third-inning homer.
Lopez (7-15) allowed three runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
