Recap
Shane Victorino belted a three-run triple to highlight a four-run second inning and Jamie Moyer pitched eight strong frames as the Philadelphia Phillies recorded a 6-3 triumph over the New York Yankees on Wednesday.
Ryan Howard and Jayson Werth blasted back-to-back home runs for Philadelphia, which bounced back from Tuesday's 8-3 setback. The teams have split their World Series rematch at a game apiece heading into Thursday's showdown.
Greg Dobbs also had a run-scoring single for the Phillies, who posted just their ninth win in 26 contests.
Moyer (7-6) allowed two runs and three hits while striking out five to pick up the win. The 47-year-old left-hander also became the oldest pitcher to record a victory over the Yankees, surpassing Phil Niekro for the feat.
Brad Lidge allowed an RBI double to Alex Rodriguez before striking out the side in the ninth to preserve the win.
Robinson Cano and Jorge Posada belted solo home runs for New York, which suffered its first home loss in 10 games.
A.J. Burnett (6-5) allowed six runs and six hits while walking four in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.
