Vin Mazzaro pitched 7 1/3 solid innings and Adam Rosales hit a solo homer, leading the Oakland Athletics to a 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.
Mazzaro (4-2) gave up a run in the third, but otherwise held the Indians in check. He allowed seven hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Andrew Bailey pitched the ninth for his 17th save in 20 opportunities.
Fausto Carmona, Cleveland's sole representative in the All-Star Game, allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings. The right-hander (7-7) walked three and struck out three.
Rosales homered to lead off the seventh.
Oakland scored a run in the first. Coco Crisp drew a leadoff walk, took second on a passed ball by catcher Carlos Santana, went to third on a groundout and scored on Ryan Sweeney's slow tapper back toward the mound.
The Indians tied the game with a two-out rally in the third. Santana singled, went to third on Travis Hafner's single and scored on Austin Kearns' single.
Mark Ellis' RBI single in the fourth scored Jack Cust, who doubled.
