Stampeders 30, Tiger-Cats 20: Bo Levi Mitchell threw for one touchdown and ran for another as visiting Calgary hung on to defeat Hamilton.

Mitchell completed 19-of-27 passes for 271 yards and added 33 rushing yards for the Stampeders (6-1), who kept pace with the Edmonton Eskimos atop the West Division. Running back Hugh Charles recorded 102 rushing yards in his Calgary debut, while Jeff Fuller caught Mitchell’s touchdown pass before leaving in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

Dan LeFevour was 21-for-30 passing for 282 yards and two touchdowns for the Tiger-Cats (1-6), but left with a leg injury in the fourth quarter and was replaced by Jeremiah Masoli, who was 7-for-10. Linebacker Erik Harris caught a touchdown pass while also recording an interception and a sack on defence.

Calgary led 20-7 after Rene Paredes' 40-yard field goal with 6:15 remaining in the third quarter, but the Tiger-Cats chipped away at the advantage with a 52-yard field goal by Justin Medlock and a 21-yard pass from LeFevour to Bakari Grant on the opening play of the fourth quarter. Masoli looked confident in relief of LeFevour until he threw an interception to Jamar Wall with 1:49 remaining and Drew Tate capped the ensuing drive with a game-clinching 2-yard touchdown run.

Mitchell rushed for 14 yards to give the Stampeders the lead on their first drive 8:01 into the contest before LeFevour found Harris for a 55-yard score 1:56 later. Paredes booted a 19-yard field goal with 1:29 remaining in the opening quarter and Mitchell found Fuller for 6 yards with 3:10 left in the first half to give Calgary some breathing room.
