Today’s NHL Prop Picks and Best Bets: Draisaitl Dominates Again in Game 3

Despite a Game 2 injury scare, Leon Draisaitl kept his playoff hot streak going vs. Vancouver. With the series shifting to Edmonton, our NHL betting picks see no signs of him slowing down.

The Boston Bruins look to even up their second-round series against the Florida Panthers on Sunday evening while the Edmonton Oilers return home tied 1-1 against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Bruins built on their Game 7 win with a 5-1 victory in Game 1 but the Panthers took over in Games 2 and 3 with six goals in each. The Oilers are looking to build on their Game 2 overtime win with the series shifting to Edmonton.

Here are my best NHL player props and NHL picks for Sunday, May 12.

Today’s NHL prop picks and best bets

Prop bet #1: Good, Bennett, best

Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett made his presence felt as he returned to the lineup for Game 3 in Boston. Bennett assisted on the Panthers’ second goal of the game and laid a big hit on Brad Marchand that has the Boston Bruins winger questionable for Game 4.

Bennett immediately slid back into the second line with Carter Verhaeghe and Matthew Tkachuk on his wings. Although he’s not on the top power-play unit, Bennett’s assist did come on the man advantage with the second group getting it done for the Cats.

The second-line center finished the regular season with seven points in his final eight games and had two points against the Lightning before getting injured in Game 2.

We’re getting Bennett to record a point at decent plus odds while his linemates are heavily favored to do so: Verhaeghe -175, Tkachuk -215. Take the value on Bennett here with the Panthers’ offense firing on all cylinders against the Bruins.

Sam Bennett prop: To record a point (+130 at BET99)

Prop bet #2: Bouchard snipes

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard was quieter late in the series against Los Angeles but he’s been in on the action against the Vancouver Canucks. Bouchard scored the overtime game-winning goal in Game 2 – thanks to some help from Ian Cole – on his fifth shot on goal of the game.

Bouchard had five shots on goal on seven attempts in Game 2 after putting up three SOG on six total attempts in Game 1. He should keep firing as the Oilers return home.

The top-pair defenseman has gone Over 2.5 shots on goal in five of his last seven home games and there’s no reason to think that’ll slow down. The Oilers racked up 31 shots on goal in Vancouver on Friday night as they were able to solve the Canucks’ defense.

We’re paying some juice here on Bouchard but the power-play quarterback is worth backing here at home.

Evan Bouchard prop: Over 2.5 shots on goal (-160 at BET99)

Prop bet #3: Draisaitl still going strong

Leon Draisaitl was injured in Game 1 and his status was very much up in the air for Game 2. Despite conflicting reports about his availability, the German forward racked up four points (one goal, three assists) to help lead the Oilers to a much-needed overtime win against the Canucks.

Draisaitl is already one of the best players in the world but he’s taken it up a notch here in the playoffs. He has 16 points in seven games with multiple points in all but one game (the Oilers’ 1-0 win against the Kings).

The Oilers power play is lethal and a good source for Draisaitl’s points as well. Edmonton is 2-for-4 on the man advantage in this series and 11-for-24 in the playoffs.

Edmonton is a huge favorite in Game 3 with the total set at 6.5. The Oilers should be able to put up a handful of goals with Draisaitl getting his fair share of points.

Leon Draisaitl prop: Over 1.5 points (+105 at BET99)
