Iowa is a well disciplined, physical team with a solid bowl record. The Mettenberger injury is simply icing on the cake. I love Iowa in this matchup and wouldn't be surprised if they win the game outright. Good luck.

LSU -8. Iowa had a good year in an average BIG TEN conference. Iowa Def struggled with mobile QBs and defending the pass. Iowa Off was mediocre at best. Mettenberger out is a non issue. LSU QB Jennings can throw and run, keeping Iowa Def on its heels. LSU Def will have no issues shutting down Iowa Offense. GLTA!

a 3 star dominated and disciplined team with a good head coach v a 5 star dominated and fairly disciplined team with innovative coordinators. if LSU comes to play, and I think they will, even with mettenberger, they should dominate the lines of scrimmage, the LSU QB will manage the game, and LSU will run run run till the cows come home...which SEC team put a loss on Auburn, that's right L S U...in addition, Iowa has an Achilles heal with Greg Davis as their OC. Texas ran him off in 2010...for good reason...

I don't see this game being close...
LSU 35
Iowa 10
I am a BADGER/ Big ten fan but I agree. If you want to see the Big 10/12 get into some SEC AZZZ. Bet the BADGERS.

Miles has a history of playing great in big games but playing down in others. Tigahs had to almost do a Wazzu type swan dive last year to lose to Clemson. I just don't think they care in these meaningless bowls, and I don't think they respect a Big? team, especially on that hasn't been a factor in over a decade. What meaningful game has Iowa even been in recently? I just don't think LSU goes to Florida and plays at 100%.
And Mettenberger is a very big loss, and it could be the difference as they need to stretch the field with those 2 great wide receivers. If LSU shows up to really get after it, they would win by 3 TDs, but I think Iowa keeps this close, and could even pull the upset.

Iowa +7 Two unit play for me
You are spot on my friend, being a LSU alumni and a big Tiger supporter, Les is terrible in big games and Mettenberger is a huge loss but Jennings is the man right now, the future as to say, so in my opinion Jennings playing is a good thing. Manage the game is it, all he will be asked to do, so that means unleashing the power running game with a stable of very good running backs, watch for Hill to have a big game.
Who wins and covers this game depends on what you are saying, will LSU show and do they really care? They have the talent to overwhelm a team that's for sure!
Never forget guys, Les Miles is an idiot and can finds ways to blow big games!
Put me down for LSU -7.5 and under the total / office pool only!

Season history shows the Tigers don't travel well. On paper it shows a considerable amount of superior athletes on the LSU squad. On the side lines, time and time again, Les Miles is outcoached in a bowl game.
LSU doesn't cover (-7.5) but they do win in a 27-20 dogfight.. Maybe closer

This game played out just about like most figured, low scoring, competitive, and pretty boring. LSU freshman QB has a long way to go if they are going to challenge for the SEC title next year.
