I posted earlier on a thread here about Tiger taking over this week at Torrey Pines,
Sergio Garcia's best line was about Tiger and whether he would be up to it, ala' Big Brown... he reminded everyone that even BB finished in the top ten at Belmont! i.e. - why can't Tiger at the Open coming back from knee surgery...
This is a Tiger prime time show, in my opinion. Lefty maybe but I doubt it. Past those two, with Scott knicked up, you have to look at long, straight hitters with a good short game and great putting. You know, guys like Tiger and such as Tiger and maybe Tiger, you get the idea.
I wonder now how I could even have considered guys like Oglivy had a chance. What is amazing is Tiger really didn't have the right juice until he hit that shot on #1 (his 10th that day) on Friday while standing on the cart path. Once he knew he could still make the THAT shot, it gave him the confidence to play the sub-par game that has dominated the tourney since then. He was in about 26th place, I think, when that happened. He went on to shoot 30 on that side and move into 2nd.
Of course, that Friday showing now pales to the eagle, birdie, eagle finish of yesterday in Round 3. This has been the greatest run and the loudest spontaneous outroars I have heard since Jack won the Masters on the back nine in Augusta in '86.
Never to be forgotten, imo. I thought the five 3'2s in a row on the card was something, but when the first eagle went in and then followed by the blind pitch slam dunk - followed by the finishing hole eagle and the pleasure/pain/pleasure scenario - it's just too much to believe...
Here's to Tiger and and the lovely Helga, may they live well and prosper. ||an_cheers.gif' border=0>

Hi Vee.....(who's Helga?)
||an_cry.gif' border=0>
Such a loss. The rest of the golf world is secretly rejoicing...someone other than Tiger will win - wide open fields.
Will be interesting to see if a new star emerges on the big stage.
Thoughts and prayers for Tiger's speedy and health return.

ejane - Helga is my nick name for Tiger's Swedish wife - beautiful lady named Elin Nordegren Woods. Yes, gold needs Tiger back soon. No one will replace him not for this generation. But names to watch this year are Brad Snedeker (Vandy alum), Stricker is playing pretty well, Phil may get a boost from this and his spotty play at Torrey Pines may motivate him, I think Geoff Oglivy is a possiblity for another Major this year and it is very good to see Big Easy Els back in form.
It will still be a great season simply because golf is the greatest sport of all.

should have read "golf needs Tiger back soon.."
And I should have mentioned Davis Love in the same line with Ernie - good to see him playing well again.
