Alright fuckers, no laughing. The Blazers welcome back Zach Randolph and company to Oregon. The Blazers devastating home court advantage is withering away, and they are allowing teams to play them closely, even giving them opportunities to win. Their last 2 home games have been decided by one point a win and a loss.
This is an opportunity to catch New York after 2 straight blowout losses getting a ton of points against a team that is not performing up to par. the Blazers have had theirproblems with the Knicks going 1 and 2 ats in their last 3 contests, with the one win a half point ats win last March. I have a feeling that the spread will be New York+8.5, which I will add 3 points onto it and make it 11.5. The Blazers aren't playing well enough to beat teams by blowout numbers. They have been playing up to and down to the level of their competition lately. So why fight the feeling. I'm going to have to let the streak stop me.
I told readers of the thread that this was coming back when guys were shredding me for fading the Blazers or refusing to bet on them. They are just what they are... a young team that is prone to streaky play. Right now they are in a bad streak again. Ride it cowboys!

Knicks vs. Blazers -8 (2 units) - Portland will not lose 3 in a row ATS at home, and in those 3 are only 1-2 SU. New York is coming in on the 4th game of a 5 game road trip, losing the previous 3 by an average of 8 points. Brandon Roy looks to be questionable with a hand injury, something I don't remember happening during that Cavs game 2 nights ago. I'm sure he'll play and be fine, he still wants to make that All-Star game and this is just another chance to showcase his talent. Zach Randolph will make his first appearance back in Portland after heading to the east coast. I think it's his first game back (didn't really verify) and I really don't have much else to say about this game.

It's all good, obes. We can't always be on the same side. But I wish you well, I wish you wealth too. You're a football guy. We have been very useful to one anoter this year. So it's no sweat when you have to fade me. Shit i fade myself, although my fading as been doing horribly. I've gone 9-5 this week. My Portland moneyline loss is still stinging. i hate 1 point losses. it causes indigestion. i would prefer to get blown off than to lose by a point, but such is the world that I've created. I said i wanted to be a wagerer. There it is.
Oh yeah, back to this game.
New York+11 or more.
i am absolutely positive that the public will drive this spread up, and i will ly the hammer when they do.

Portland has been favored over the Knicks at home by a margin of 8 or more only twice since 1994, and both time here was the result: Portland-11 final score 88-80 (2002) Portland-9 final score 99-91 (2003).
So it is easy to see that with Portland being unfamiliar with the personnel of the Knicks it is not a reach to say that the Knicks have a solid shot at covering the spread. Hell for what it's worth, the Knicks have 11 1st round draft choices on their team. So there's no shortage of talent there. They just don't always play together in harmony.
Speaking of talent, position by position the Knicks are just as deep as the Blazers, but the Blazers are better coached which is why they will get the straight up win in this game. But I don't see them winning by more than 8 in this matchup, which if you look at the time of my original post, you will see that i was right on the nail with respect to what line would be offered for this game (8.5) way before the public offering for the spread.
This line is offered with the intention for it to have room to grow. Obviously the linemakers have wiggle room to offer the Blazers by 10 or more. Hook, line and sinker. Don't let em catch you slippin' playboys and playgirls.

Wednesday night was doubly disheartening; the Blazers lose to that shallow Cavs team, then Cleveland lays flat for the lowly Sonics Thursday night. Portland hasn't shown up at home into this New Year. It's now a new month, and I first think of Nate McMillan making quick reparations for that dreadful downfall two nights ago. The Knicks aren't exactly a formidable opponent coming in, and he's sooner resting Brandon Roy tonight. Jarrett Jack is a good enough substitution - especially against New York's guard play.
Curry's production will cancel Aldridge.
J Crawford will out-score Blake
Q Richardson might maneuver, and manage more points than Webster, and Outlaw combined.
Nothing to answer for Zach Randolph's numbers in his return (as CK has mentioned).
Half-expect the Knicks to come out flat, and never recover, as well as Portland snapping out of it. Still, as with the entire season to date, I haven't yet gone against the Knicks (when it's conceivable to wager on them, such as here).
Knicks + (insert closing spread), and a light lean at the under

the knicks are playing much better without marbury in the lineup and they should continue too. i like them to cover here especially with the blazers not playing like they were a couple of weeks ago when they were on that amazing win streak.

contrary to what you all may believe, I think the public is going to be on the knicks tonight and I will have to go with the blazers bouncing back from a couple tough losses and hammering it to them.

no no no, knicks will cover this game without a problem. They have killer mismatches in this game. And like the blazers aren't a fast break team. Who is going to guard both Curry and Randolph? Lamarcus Aldridge?

seems like the big bucks are comin in early on NYK, I would take the knicks +11 any day but my current book is only allowing 1 point buys so I'm gonna have to roll with portland in this one, hopefully by gametime all you guys have moved the line to 6.

you think the Blazers are worried about Mr Anti Boards himself, Mr Lazy Eddy Curry? LOL
Pryz checks him and can do more than fine in that matchup.
Aldridge and Z-Bo will be a great matchup.
And speaking of depth, the Blazers bring Outlaw at the 4 and Frye at the 5 off the bench. They're just fine down low, and they have the edge on the wings.
Q has been terrible this season, he scares no one. Jones and Martell match up just fine with him. Blake is very solid at the point backed by Jack, and Roy owns whoever Zeke the Tard puts out there on him

hey guys Eddie Curry might not even be playing tonight while he recovers from that flu bug sweeping the league... and even if he does play i doubt he'll be too effective bc of the sickness, just a big body to draw some fouls and grab a few boards (which he rarely does anyway)

Portland has struggled in their past four games with a 1-3 SU (0-4 ATS) record and the main cause has been poor shooting on offense. Portland has shot just 39.5%, 35.7%, and 35.3% FG in their past three losses, but the Blazers have continued to play solid defense in their past four games, allowing just 90.5 points per game.
Defense has been the key for Portland this season and the team stands 16-7 Under in all home games and they are 7-1 Under in their past eight games as a favorite. Portland should be able to limit a New York offense that has struggled when facing good defenses this season.
The Knicks put up big numbers against the Warriors and Lakers earlier this week, but both of those teams preferred a fast paced style. When facing half-court teams, the Knicks have struggled and have scored 89 points or less in each of their other four recent games.
The Knicks might be short-handed tonight as Eddy Curry and Quentin Richardson are both questionable as they continue to recover from the flu. Each player saw limited minutes in Utah on Wednesday night. This was also a low-scoring series last season as both meetings went Under the total with combined scores of just 178 and 180 total points in each game.

With Curry and Q out of the lineup, the Knicks become even more potent. David Lee is better than Curry anyway. Curry is a fat disgruntled employee, and Q hasn't ever been shit anyway. He is only famous because he dated Brandy for awhile. Other than that he is D-League material on an NBA squad. I mean what can he really do? Jamal Crawford baby. He can play with Roy .
All that I know is don't be fooled by the Blazers' win in New York earlier this year (by the score of 92-86), 8 points is too many.
New York has the better form coming into this game believe it or not. they are 7-3 ats in their last 10 games, and 5-2 ats in their last 7 road games. Hell they are 11-5 ats when playing Portland in the last 16 overall matchups between the two, so their dominance in this matchup is no fluke, amigo.
What are the Blazers? 1-5 ats coming into this game, and 2-4 straight up.

generally speaking, when the knicks dont win the game, they dont cover the spread... home team is 6-2 ATS.... only thing thats worrying me is brandon roy just had xrays done...
David Lee is a beast but he will be contained and silenced by the home crowd.

i agree with you that david lee is better (by a lot) than Curry, the only reason he doesnt start in his place is bc of fuckin Isaiah and bc Curry is gettin paid so much... and i also agree with you that Q sucks, man i cannot believe how poorly the Knicks are built as an organization
Crawford is their best player but is also a mini-Starbury with a me first attitude, although he does get some decent assists on occasion

I'm not touching the spread in this one...I'm just gonna stick to being alllllll over the UNDER here. The Knicks haven't had a solid offensive performance against a team that actually plays defense. The only games they have scored over 100 were against the Lakers and Warriors. As was stated up above the Blazers have also not been "blazing" on offense in this recent slide. Poor shooting killed them against the Cavs...and also killed me in a parlay.
