and so let me see if I understand.....in a union, you dont have to get anyones approval to take vacation?
so if the entire workforce was union and they all wanted the same week off they could all take it?
very interesting

No they don't have to shut down. She was the office manager. The boss should have come in and said " absolutely go see his game, I understand I had a son or grandson in little league, I will get a temp or cover for you or I'll do it myself if I have to " But no he was out, probably on vacation posting about all his toys.
Do you know something Lordy, that employee would never forget that gesture and her loyality would be everlasting. So as it is now, he has to go find and train a new manager.
I have covered for my employee's before.

Some people just dont understand how important unions are to keeping the rich fatcats in check, but someday when there are no more unions and these posters kids or grandkids are getting walked all over at their low paying jobs, they might finally get it.
To this day, i still cant understand why some people here love to side with the corporations and fatcats, while dumping on the little guy.

Don, I have a serious question for you. I doubt I will get an answer. I really don't care one way or the other for unions. I think like most things they have their pro's and con's. I believe at one time there was more of a need than there is at present time for unions, but thats not the point.
My question for you or a few others that are so pro union and against the companys they are involved with is if unions are so great, have the best in mind for the employee, and seem to have it all figured out, then why not band together and start competing companys to challenge the present devilish corporations. If what you say is true, they would have no time in a matter of time drowning out the present system, gaining public approval, and continuing to grow. But instead they continue to work for the same people that they have such diasgreement with in the way they run their company. I doubt that I'll get a straight answer without being called the smae old names, but I would seriously like an answer.

let me ask you this, in a union job, if your request for time off is denied and you skip work anyways, do you not get fired? if you do get fired, then your whole post is nothing more than partisan bullshit. if not, then i think we can all agree that there is something fundamentally wrong with the disciplinary process in union jobs. | |

Answer...The thing you'll never understand about unions is that someone is allowed to cover for you. It may even be the union rep.
Now I am sure someone could have covered for her to let he take time off for personal leave.
I'll now ask you a question.. What if she had a heart attack and was hospitalized ? Who would cover for her then ? ah-ha So it's all a bunch of baloney.
The owner is selfish... on vacation posting about all his toys.

And Goose, along that same vein...why is it that virtually EVERY story, tale, movie, song, play, yarn, book, etc, down through recorded history, has portrayed those with supreme wealth and power as being almost wholeheartedly vicious, ruthless and pure evil?
I guess maybe the liberal media has been around a lot longer than we all thought. For thousands of years, apparently. Well, I say we put an end to this now! Let's re-imagine the ubber powerful and wealthy as the loving, caring, job creators that they really are. Those pharoahs weren't using slave labor...they were giving those people jobs.
