I know this may be a little off topic but I am sure many degenerate here can help me. So I have been playing Poker at this underground cardroom for the past year and a half and I have been very good business. I also brought lots of new action to the club.
However, after borrowing $3k to play with, I have no money to pay the guy. It has been 4 weeks. 2 weeks ago he was telling me he's charging 5% juice a week and that I owed him $3300. I told him I can't afford that kind of juice and for all the business I brought to him, I won't pay no 5% a week juice, that I'll pay him the $3k plus 10% on that amount. He wasn't very happy.
Up until now he hasn't really threatenned me. But he has been using some very intimidating strategies. Like "I hope you don't try to get smart, for your sake" and "The people above me take care of credit" and "I'll just give you BigGuy's number, I am sure he'll want his pay more than me".
Background: When I was a really good customer, we used to discuss business and he would tell me how when peolpe don't pay, he would say those kinds of things but if someone disappears, there is nothing he can really do about it, that the risk is just the cost of business. In fact, he expects a tiny fraction of debtors not to pay him back but that's just the cost of running the business.
The question is, how do I handle this? I really have no money. And at 5% a week, I'll never be able to pay him in full.
So what happens if I keep on delaying it and one day my balance comes out to be $10,000? I mean that would be unfair right? He lent me money to play at his club and pay him rake. For the year and a half, I never failed to pay him back. But I have now used up (gambled away) my last borrowed dollar.
I know I know, I should make a deal with him. I told him I owe a lot of money and I am making a deal with everyone. But will he really get violent? Will he find out where I live? What if I left town? What if I told him I left town?
Yes I am a douche bag, waste of life, whatever for not being able to pay. But mind you when I had a winning streak at his club, he would take 5%-10% here and there out of my winnings. I think I have paid him more on those extras than that $2k. But when I lost, I never got those few hundreds that I paid him here and there back.
So far I have shown that I really want to pay off my debts and intimidation or not, it won't matter, I just don't have anything, if I had, I would pay him. But seriously, what happens if I told him I left town? Or if I leave town for real? For $3k, after all the business I brought to him, will he just write it off or wait till the juice brings it up to a significant amount and sell my debt to the mob?
