games i'm liking for week 1...pls talk me in or out of any of these and your sentence may be mitigated
Navy +21.5 ; buckeyes hosting usc next saturday night. not sure how you can have a look ahead in game 1 but i guess you can
Nevada +14.5 ; overhyped as always notre dame. they may be a 10 win team this year but this will be a very tough game. they still dont have much of a defense from all ive read
Wake -2 ; just think this is an awful spot for Baylor. all the hype in the world on the QB but this is a very tough opener
i would love to take va tech but backing tyrod taylor makes me throw up in my mouth

And does Tressel really wanted to run it up against an academy?
If he's a smart coach he should pull a Jeff Fisher (not lose the game like him of course) and look weak this week, like a 3-7 point win, and hope Barkley and USC beat SJST by 50. Then the pressure will be on USC next week and the kid at QB as the media say "USC have done it again another stud at QB", putting OSU in a better position to win next week IMO.

ND is a no-play for me. They are one of my favorite teams, but I like winning bets more. I fade them often. Especially, the last two years. I would just like to make a couple points.
Their D is actually pretty decent. Darrin Walls was set to be an All-American type corner before he left school for personal reasons last year. He is back and is the 2nd or 3rd corner. McNeil and Blanton are both good corners. The safeties are inexperienced, but that position has always underachieved under Weis. Their D-line still doesn't have much at the end position, but they finally have some experience and girth in the middle with soph. Ethan Johnson and Jr. Ian Williams. Their linebackers are athletic, if a bit unspectacular at this point, but that is all DC John Tenuta needs as he will just relentlessly blitz them. I don't expect Nevada's QB will get much time to tuck and run.
ND's O-line is mainly the reason I lay off this game. I have to see them. If they are improved and ND can move the ball on the ground, then this game probably isn't close. But that was a BAD offensive line last year, and basically all during Weis's tenure, and all they've gained is experience and a new position coach. Now way no how, Tate, Floyd, or TE Rudolph are being covered in this game, or most any game for that matter. But will Clausen have: 1) time to throw or 2) the maturity to let the game come to him?
Two things are for sure though...1) ND's line is inflated like usual, but there is general sense of apathy in the fan base. So maybe...just maybe...ND isn't getting as big of a bounce from Vegas like normal...and, 2) Weis will be outcoached on several levels. Player preparation being the most likely and in-game management being second likely.
I have to wait a game or two see if all the off-season changes pay-off. If they do, ND could cover by half time. If not Nevada may win outright.
For me, this is a no-play, but I could certainly understand someone wanting to fade Weis and the ND hype.

Art Briles (Baylor Coach) has turned losers into winners everywhere he has coached. Baylor showed some life last year in Briles' first year and I would expect they'll surprise some teams this year. The culture around Baylor is changing. Wake Forest on the road is a tough draw to start the season, but Briles will have Baylor well prepared. I cashed a nice ticket on Wake last year, but I wouldn't touch this game this year. Baylor will be better and Wake's secondary is very young and inexperienced.

i kind of like that irish over - but them low scoring shitfests last evening might have me reevaluating that.
i would have to check recent history but i would guess that if you bet NC State thursday night unders for the last 7-10 years you would be at about an 85% win rate

if what i hear coming from T-town is true about McElroy and the offensive line gels, this team will be playing Florida again in Atlanta...a one dimensional offense stands no chance against Bama's D...
