It's hard to cap early in season. First couple weeks, teams give good effort, but as you get into mod-November thru AS break, I think players, and teams in general just lay off the gas some nights. Sharks blowing out STL a few nights ago is perfect example. Blues just did not have it, and likely took the other team lightly, but trying to cap that is tough.
I personally have had way more success post ASG and Playoffs, because you tend to get more focused efforts as teams jockey for spots in the playoffs and then they play a very different game in SC. D don't pinch as much, Far Wing or Center generally stays high, so less odd-man rushes and everybody blocks shots.

Yup I agree with D. Some what of a lull from now to after new years. Not much jockeying going on now. Just players doing their job. Once the standings start shaping up then teams will start the push.
Also teams starting to mesh defensively as they get 12-15+ games into the season. Early on its looser.
I usually just look for spots early on.
Tonight I debated bruins ml since its the fathers trip and they lost the 1st game of the trip. But I'm not a sides player so I went with pasta over 4.5 sog as that is more up my alley.
Also this year i started looking at the games the day before and analyze where I might find a spot....get an idea of a line i would like and see what the book releases
I assume you have a program/system pointing out the picks for you to play?
Or is it just you making picks off your knowledge/research?
