Yes class it's that time again, you can either learn from history or be defeated by it. Speaking of defeat can the Wild and Jackets keep from being defeated again today ?
Let's jump back into the wayback machine Mr. Peabody.
(There is a reference you rookies will have to look up.)
So lets start with the first game on the docket
Note all these stats will deal with ignoring win order but considering site order. 2-2-1-1-1.
Minny at St.Louis
So how does the home team do after winning the first 2 games on the road in the Prelim round. Well of course there is not a great deal of stats to go on considering this doesn't happen very often in the prelims. But signs point strongly to Minny here. The home team (St.Louis) only wins at a .367 rate. . So considering that Minny is just a -121 fave here you have to give them a shot for sure.
Pittsburgh at Columbus
How about the Pens who took care of business at home ? Do they continue the roll and take game 3 ? Maybe......flip a coin. In this situation the Pens have a 45.7% chance to win game 3. So considering they are getting back +110 now it's a pretty even wager.
Ok now, what about the series that are 1-1. Since we have two in this situation we will just do a twofer here
Montreal at Rangers and Oilers at Sharks
For the prelim round the road teams here, (Habs and Oilers) are hitting at 54.2%. For all rounds it goes down to 50%. So considering both road teams here are getting slight plus money you really can't go wrong. But the lines are so close the advantage is minimal.
Side note here, with the series tied at 1-1 the road teams here usually win the series 53% of the time combining all rounds

Hey Lippsman, I dont post much, but die pucks fan my whole life. As a Kings lifer, I am very familiar with good ol Bruce, when he was coaching the Ducks. He has been in this situation before, in 2014, when the Kings won both games 1 and 2, in Anaheim. We all thought, "we should take at least one game at home, and head back to Anaheim 3-1." NOPE. Bruce got the boys to win both games at Staples and I was there for both. Ducks came out and shut down the Kings both games. So, not that I am saying this has that written all over it, but he has dealt with this before, and I have no doubt in my mind, as crappy as the Wild have been, they will take 1 game in STL, and that is likely today. Your statistical find on game 3, points to somewhat of a let down spot, with two road wins coming home for game 3. Also, happened to the Kings last year when they lost both games at Staples went back to SJ and won in OT, to eventually get knocked out in 5. Just wanted to add to your find.
