Hey guys, I'm back with the top 3 teams in my power ratings for week 1.
Each season one of these top 3 teams with a non-winning record has become one of the surprise stories of the year.
Each season at least 1 and sometimes 2 one of these top 3 teams has made it to at least the AFC or NFC championship game.
Many times teams have won divisions and made the playoffs as well after a top 3 performance in week 1, unfortunately I don't have the exact numbers with me at this time.
Last season the top 3 teams as I posted here on covers was....................
EAGLES, CHIEFS, 49ERS.
Backing these top 3 teams in weeks 2-17 has returned about 55% winners ATS over the years with just 1 losing year and that I believe was by just a single game.
The teams with at least 10 wins the year before seem to do the best, although the teams under 10 wins still do well, last season was the 49ers who posted one of the best ATS records in the league and made the Championship game.
2014 TOP 3 TEAMS AFTER WEEK 1.......................................
1. Titans
2. Lions
3. Panthers
We have 2 teams with losing records and 1 team with 10 wins or more last season.
It's very likely that the Titans or Lions and possibily both may turn-out to be one of the big surprise stories this season.
These 2 teams might offer some good odds to win divisions, make the playoffs, and it's very realistic that 1 could sneak into the conference finals with a great hedging oppurtunity on a futures ticket.
Best of Luck all season boys...................................

What about the Seahawks and Niners being in the top three ? I believe both of those teams could beat the Lions. I would not rate the Panthers in the top three at this point due to the injuries to Cam.

This is just 1 method to identify surprise teams.
Unfortunately I don't have all the info about these teams at my fingertios at this moment.
It's not saying the Lions will be better than Seattle but rather a ...big performance in week 1 could very well be indicative of very good things to come to these teams and history backs that up.
